I began my undergraduate education as a molecular biochemist. However, as my studies progressed, I developed an increasing interest in history and the humanities, which has led me to think more broadly about science in society—specifically, the way scientific information is distorted in its communication. At Cambridge, I will pursue an MPhil in History and Philosophy of Science and Medicine to study the history of science communication, especially the visual communication of science as well as the ways animals are evoked or used in scientific discourse. I believe that a historical and humanistic understanding of science communication can lead to better science communication in our contemporary time. I'm excited and honored to join the international Gates community in our mission to improve the lives of others.
