I am a historian working on the contestations that social reform movements engendered in late colonial India and Malaya. Inspired by my doctoral research, my current research and teaching projects focus on the politics of alcohol and drug regulation in British Asia.
The Gates Cambridge scholarship enabled me to read Modern South Asian Studies at Cambridge. I stayed on at Cambridge to take a PhD in History after receiving my MPhil with Distinction.
