I was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and earned my B.A. in Media Studies and Public Policy from UC Berkeley. Through involvement with Berkeley Law's Human Rights Center and the Center for Long-Term Cybersecurity, I became fascinated by the different ways that digital technologies–in addition to the companies that operate them–can have impacts on both the individual and cultural level. Meanwhile, through coursework taken at Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, I discovered my interest in pursuing a career in corporate social responsibility. However, the very notion of ‘corporate social responsibility’ is evolving. I have witnessed this evolution firsthand. After graduating, I began my career in management consulting, where I advised technology companies on corporate sustainability, ethics, and human rights. As a Gates Cambridge Scholar, I now intend to examine the sociopolitical dimensions of a shifting corporate social responsibility landscape, particularly among technology and social media companies. I’m incredibly grateful for the support of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and honored to be joining the Gates Cambridge community.
