Dr. Ryan Limbocker is an associate professor in the Department of Chemical & Biological Science & Engineering (CBSE) at the United States Military Academy (USMA). He earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Kansas (with Honors and Highest Distinction) and a doctorate in chemistry from the University of Cambridge. He was a postdoctoral research fellow at Columbia University. Limbocker is a principal investigator (PI) in the Protein Biophysics Group, which investigates Alzheimer’s disease, traumatic brain injury, biotechnology, and human performance. He has authored 36 peer-reviewed publications, including 11 with 31 different cadet co-authors, 13 with 19 different USMA faculty co-authors, and 12 as corresponding author. He is principal investigator on 15 research grants since 2020, with funding from DARPA, OSD-R&E, the Photonics Research Center, Army Research Laboratory, DTRA, and the Camille and Dreyfus Foundation. Cadets in the Protein Biophysics Group have won five Goldwater Scholarships, 11 Stamps Scholarships, an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship, a Rhodes Scholarship, 15 Health Professions Scholarships to attend medical school, and two Purdue Military Research Initiative Fellowships. Limbocker is the recipient of the Goldwater Scholarship (2014), NSF Graduate Research Fellowship (2015), Gates Cambridge Scholarship (2015-2018), the Dean’s Award for Scholarship Excellence (2022), and the Henry Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Award (2025).
